She fell silent, chewing at her lip. “Am I the same as you remember?”
“In the important ways,” he said. “The precious ways.”
“I don’t see it so often anymore, but you still have that weird sense of humor,” he said, smiling a little. “You still chew the inside of your cheek when you’re upset or nervous. You can’t cook for crap. You pick at your nails. You still shut down and practically become a different person when you’re on a mission, though these days I don’t see you breaking out of that as much anymore. Like every day is a mission for you, and you’re forgetting how to go back to yourself.”
He’d cut too close. She angled away from him, and he saw that her shadowed eyes were bright, catching the light of the shuttle bay oddly. “Maybe I am forgetting,” she said quietly.
Without thinking, he bridged the breach between them and slowly traced the angle of her cheek with his hand, and it stunned him how much it was like he remembered; the sensation of her skin, smooth and tight, unburdened by age, the exactly pattern of the freckles that dotted her cheekbone. A part of him expected her to draw away from his touch, but she did not; instead, she leaned into it and closed her eyes, and when she sighed, it trembled with an odd relief that he felt himself.
“I missed you,” she said, her voice thick. “You’re standing right here, and I still miss you.”

Cheiloproclitic - Being attracted to someones lips
I’m borrowing Mica Shepard from aphreal42 for this, my own Shep was being ridiculously unhelpful. I hope that’s okay.
Shepard is mad, and Kaidan really ought to be paying more attention to her words. The mission didn’t go as planned, and she’s right, he did screw up, he knew his mistake the moment things went wrong, and he certainly won’t do it again. But right now he can’t focus on anything but the fact that she’s okay. His eyes wander to her lips. They are beautiful, even as they form the words of her angry tirade, and it’s been far too long since he’s kissed them.
“It cannot happen again,” she finishes. “Am I being clear?”
“Crystal,” Kaidan says, stepping closer and taking her hand. “I won’t miscalculate like that again. But… you’re okay?”
Shepard blinks at him, and he can see the wind go out of her sails. She’s always been that way. Just a little bit of kindness undoes her completely, though he’s probably the only one to recognize it. It kills him that she’s known so little understanding in her life that she doesn’t know what to do when she’s faced with it, but if she’ll let him, he’ll spend the rest of his life proving she deserves it.
Shepard licks her lips, and Kaidan loses his train of thought.
“I’m fine,” she says.
“Good,” Kaidan breathes, and leans down to claim those lips at last.
aphreal42 prompted: Mica Shepard, Secrets
Joker was smart enough to know when to keep his mouth shut, but he couldn’t hold back a smirk as he watch Shepard ream Kaidan a new one, her face only inches from his, one finger pointed at Kaidan’s chest in accusation for some screw-up that Joker did not want to know the details of. Kaidan’s eyes were wide, his mouth open, apparently just as speechless as Jeff was.
It was pretty obvious that Shepard still had it bad for Alenko, and that they’d both probably be better off if they’d just start making out, but Joker didn’t think Shepard would appreciate the observation, and decided that this was one secret he would take to the grave.
Anonymous asked you: Horizon.
He walked away.
There was screaming in his head, so loud it was a wonder no one else could hear it.
What are you doing? Why are you leaving her? Jesus Christ, Alenko, she’s alive! She’s ALIVE!
Except…was she? Was that really Shepard standing there, or some Cerberus clone? Some sort of construct that looked like her, sounded like her…
Smelled like her…
Too many questions, too many unknowns, and Shepard working with Cerberus? It just didn’t compute. Something was wrong. Something wasn’t right. And until he figured everything out, he couldn’t believe it was her. He couldn’t…couldn’t let her in. Again.
She could tear him apart without even touching him and he couldn’t risk it. He wouldn’t.
But dammit, walking away hurt.
