DIY Teacup Candle Tutorial from Cupcakes and Cashmere here. I like this post because it includes a link to a cheap $16.95 candle making kit, but you can do this with any candle wax, wicks and thrifted cups. *If you don’t want to buy a kit I posted a really wonderful tutorial from Hey Gorgeous using pretty pink wax here.
DIY Wire Wrapped Recycled Perfume Bottle Pendants Tutorial from My Salvaged Treasures here. This is a really inexpensive way to make small bottle pendants.

Did you know old remote controls can make totally rad accessories? Check out our repurposing DIY!
Truebluemeandyou: Very cool tutorial that shows you how to make bracelets, rings, cufflinks and earrings our of remote controls.
So cool.
DIY Recycle Hardcover or Softcover Books into Journals. Easy tutorial from Blue Velvet Chair here. *You need a grommet kit to do this as neatly as in the tutorial (and I always mention this is one of the tools I have), and if you feel guilty about cutting up books you can make yourself feel better by reading what happens to old books here.
DIY Thrifted Shirt into Pencil Skirt Tutorial. Because this shirt was made out of stretchy fabric it was easy to turn it into a skirt. Tutorial from Trash to Couture here. *Love the on trend semi-photo realistic graphics.
DIY Tee Shirt Restyle Using Crochet Trim on the Sides. Love this idea. Tutorial from Trash to Couture here.
DIY Recycled Book into a Sketch Book. Love everything about this. Tutorial from Cosmo Cricket here. *We are having a huge used book sale this weekend (for the League of Women Voters), and a bag of books will be $3 Sunday afternoon. So look online and see where the used book sales for charities/organizations are near you!
DIY Wine Box Shelves. You can always ask for these boxes where wine is sold - grocery stores (if your states lets them sell alcohol) etc… Tutorial from Cin Decor here. *You can do the same thing with drawers, but wine boxes are somewhat lighter and usually free. You can hang them with a belt like in this post.
More creative new uses for old books:
Make book cover headboards.
Materials include book covers, glue, and a piece of wood or something else to use as backing.
How-to / DIY details: Instructables
Note: If you’ve got books you no longer want, but think could be of interest to other readers, consider selling them or giving them away instead of using them as raw material for projects!
Truebluemeandyou: A hint for using Instructables. The site can be annoying if you don’t have a pro membership but it seems to allow you to scroll down and click on ALL STEPS a few times so you aren’t hitting the NEXT BUTTON forever. Also, if you feel guilty defacing books, I asked my mom what The League of Women Voters did with their books that didn’t sell after their huge annual book sale here.
