Tumblr, we need you! A rogue Arizona State representative, John Kavanagh, wants to pass a bill that would thow trans people in jail for using public restrooms. Anyone could be asked for I.D. to “prove” their gender, and if there’s a discrepancy they could face a fine or jailtime.
When asked why the bill targeted trans people, Kavanagh explained that it’s because he thinks “they’re weird.” Outrageous.
We can stop this bill by taking action at www.allout.org/arizona and spreading the word far and wide. Will you help?
That quote sounds like something out of an onion article oh my god I can’t believe people are this awful
You should help and spread the word too
Sending love to trans* women today, especially those for whom women’s day is not safe space. You matter and you’re welcome here.

if you ever, ever, ever, ever decide to ignore the pronouns that a trans* person has clearly specified and instead refer to them as “it”
- stop
- stop
- stop
- punch yourself in the face
- STOP
- isolate yourself
- reevaluate your decisions
- punch yourself in the face again
- get a clue
- return
- one more punch for good measure!
- say something else
if this process does not appeal to you there is an alternate option:
- stop
- walk away
- keep walking
- no that’s not far enough
- keep going
- walk into the ocean please
- there you go
- no you need to keep walking
- okay good now stay right there
- thanks
thank you GOODBYE

This is Rad. Rad identifies as a lesbian, and she is 100% female. Recently she has taken the leap into telling one of the biggest secrets of her life. She was a male to female transgender.
Yes, she was born male and identifies now as female and has recently completed ALL the surgeries in becoming who she is now: Rad, the woman we all know today.
Since Rad has come out as mtf on tumblr, with the love and support of her (not yet, but more than likely soon) girlfriend, Chelsea Skye, she as well as her girlfriend have received nothing but hate and threats from the anons of tumblr.
She is being told how she isn’t a woman, and how she is confused and needs help and being disrespected just for being who she is.
Her girlfriend on the other hand has been getting messages calling Rad horrible names, and telling Chelsea how she is a fake lesbian for dating a mtf.
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
If someone identifies as female. They are female. If someone identifies as male, they are male. If you don’t understand it, ask.
DO NOT ATTACK SOMEONE FOR BEING WHO THEY ARE. IT IS THEIR LIFE NOT YOURS.
On tumblr in the trans* community we’ve seen too many good people fall in fear of being who they are. Nobody deserves to hear these things, and nobody deserves to be told they are something they are not, and absolutely nobody deserves to be attacked by grey faces with nothing but ignorance and negativity to say.
Rad, you are an absolutely beautiful woman, and you and Chelsea are absolutely the most beautiful couple I’ve ever seen. Don’t ever think you aren’t woman enough, don’t ever think that you will never be enough; because you are. I sincerely apologize for the ignorance of tumblr users and the way that they are treating you and Chelsea.
Please do not let the anons of tumblr get to you or make you feel down, scared or alone. We as the tumblr trans* community and allies have your back.
We promise.
Unlike some *ahem* other parts of the Queer Nation the Bisexual Community doesn't ditch people when convenient . . .
Then President of BiNet USA Wendy Curry said it best when the Bisexual Community refused to go along with too many in the the mainstream Gay/Lesbian establishment and ditch Trans*/GenderQueer people to try and get Equal Rights for just Cisgender Heteronormative/Homonormative people back in 2007 —
The trans community is part of the bi “net.” Unlike other national groups, we will not discard “inconvenient” parts of our community in order to win a political victory. Likewise, we would never consider tossing out the polyamourous, the monogamous, the pagan, or the christians; our diversity makes us strong …
The people who wish to “shave off” gender identity and the same people who, when necessary, will remove bisexuals from marriage, military, or any other civil rights actions. We’re too complicated. We distract from the “core” issue …
Sure, I’d love to live in a country where I couldn’t be fired for being out. But not if I had to look a transgender friend in the eye and tell them they weren’t convenient.. that it’s not their time.
It’s not about “those people” making things difficult (unless by those people, you mean the ones willing to ditch gender identity and divide the BLTG community). This is an attack on the bi community directly. Whether it’s about your gender identity, (one of) your partner’s, or your future partner - it all comes down to the right to be employed should not be given based on any one’s gender.
A wise person once said “United we stand, divided we fall”. There was no mention of when it’s “convenient.”
November 20th: Transgender Day of Remembrance.
It is a day to remember and pay tribute those who have been killed as a result of transphobia, or the hatred and fear of trans* people, and aims to help to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the transgender community.

When everyone holds their Trans* Day of Remembrance vigil this month, please don’t forget about CeCe McDonald. She’s in prison right now for fighting back & surviving a brutal attack that could have put her on this very list. We need to show support for our sister.

“The Office of Human Rights transgender and gender identity non-discrimination campaign will appear throughout DC in Fall and Winter of 2012. The campaign will feature five transgender or gender non-conforming people in a series of five ads. The campaign aims to increase understanding of the community, reduce discriminatory incidents in DC and increase reporting of discrimination when it happens.”
just saw this on facebook https://www.facebook.com/DCOHR
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.
This is really cool.
The District of Columbia Office of Human Rights (OHR) has launched a groundbreaking Transgender and Gender Identity Respect Campaign that advocates are calling the first government-funded campaign focused exclusively on the betterment of transgender and gender non-conforming people.
The five campaign ads feature actual community members, and will appear citywide on bus shelters in the fall and winter of 2012.
D.C. residents and visitors who see an ad are encouraged to photograph it and post to social media using the hashtag #TransRespect, in hopes the campaign’s mission expands beyond D.C.

voting while trans*
thepedagogyofmysticalcreatures:
Transgender people, the majority of whom have never had problems voting in the past, may now lose their right to vote due to dozens of new voter suppression laws. Over 25,000 transgender people could have their voting rights taken away. In response to these dubious new laws, we have released two resources to help transgender people reclaim their voting rights.
Voting While Trans: Preparing for the New Voter ID Laws will explain what identification you need to vote in your state. And the Voting While Trans Checklist is a one-page guide to educate poll workers and election officials on the voting rights of transgender people.
All of this voter ID shit (and the “true the vote” poll-watching/voter intimidation) is meant by conservatives to target the underprivileged, the young, and especially people of color voters and win Romney the election unfairly. And if you’re any combination of these things (trans* person of color for example) you are doubly screwed over. This whole thing is just infuriating.
A big part of being an ally to trans women is caring about us before we get murdered
Is it just me or...
- People on the noticeable increase of gay kids coming out: This is so exciting!! I'm so glad that kids have the courage to come out now when they felt they couldn't before, and at such young ages too! That's so great!
- People on the noticeable increase of trans* kids coming out: What the fuck is up with all these fakers?
- That's how they react to bi kids coming out too.
